Kickstarter & Miniatures

There is good news for all of us, lovers of football, miniatures, board games and graphic design.
From July 15 to August 20 will be running the new campaign to fund Soccer City English edition.
In this campaign the novelty will be the Miniatures. The teams consist of 11 different players, 11 bases and a small ball.

New Crowdfunding campaign coming soon
Dear all friends, gamers, football fans, retro lovers and fine design admirers:
Please allow us to give you an update on Soccer City new developments. We are re-launching our Kickstarter campaign to produce the English edition of Soccer City, The Beautiful Game.
After some unsuccessful attempts, (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elege/soccer-city-the-beautiful-game-0) we have been working hard to improve every weak point that backers briefed us and now we feel we are ready to re-launch the campaign with renewed energies.
We are adapting some points of our launching strategy to achieve our main goal: We would love all those who have supported us in previous campaigns to eventually have their new Soccer City.
Therefore, as suggested by our fans, we are reducing the funding target and pledges, and we are adding some more exciting rewards and Stretch Goals, such as exclusive and Original Soccer City Miniatures: we recruited senior professionals to transform the illustrations of the game in 3D figures. They will be high quality plastic miniatures that backers can pledge separately or by promotional packs. For those who love the aesthetic of the illustrations, they will be crazy about the Original Soccer City Miniatures.
We have quoted the pledges very carefully. We've squeezed every penny of our budget in order to offer the best pledge possible, a 30% off, approximately. We reduced the funding goal in order to produce a smaller edition, more detailed and focused on our fans, the people that really wanted to have the game from the beginning.
This campaign is aimed to our non-Spanish-speakers fans to enjoy the thrill of playing SoccerCity, English version.
We want to thank to all the people that supported the project in Spain and around the world. Gamers that already played Soccer City gave us exciting reviews and very good comments. The game has been reviewed in very important board game blogs as well as the most important board game forums like BGG, laBSK and Darkstone, among others.
We can say that after a year and a half, Soccer City has become a success because the Spanish Edition is available in stores all over Spain.
If there is something we have learned in previous campaigns is that promotion is critical. One of the communication tools we are using is the Print & Play version, which can be downloaded for free at our website http://en.soccercitythegame.com so that you may try the best Football board game ever seen.
We thank you all for your support and a last effort helping us to spread the voice for the upcoming re-launch of the campaign.

Los Meeples de la 'English Edition'
Hola amigos!
Hemos lanzado en nuestra web www.soccercitythegame.com los 'Meeples' que incluimos en la campaña de Kickstarter para la edición en inglés y que tanto gustaron.
Hemos querido satisfacer a aquellos jugones que nos comentaron que no les gustaron los peones que incluimos en la primera edición. En esa línea, hemos lanzado diferentes ofertas.
También, os queremos comentar que estamos viendo la posibilidad de producir pegatinas diferentes con equipos propiamente diseñados. Todavía estamos limando los detalles, viendo cuál es la mejor opción de producción y así poder ofertarlos.
En la misma línea, estamos planeando publicar una plantilla de diseño de uniformes para los meeples. Con esa plantilla los jugones podrían crear sus propios diseños y compartirlos con otros jugones, así vamos creando poco a poco una comunidad Soccer City. Ya hay alguna iniciativa interesante de liguillas y torneos, lo que nos provoca inmenso orgullo.
De momento, tienes algunas ideas de equipos en nuestras web, para que tu mismo las imprimas y las pegues sobre tus meeples. Aquí el enlace directo.

Why Soccer City?
Many times we have asked about why we have called SOCCER to FOOTBALL, considering that we are Europeans.
Our answer has always been the same: "The word 'Soccer' is as old as football itself."
But this time we want to explain further :)
Well, about the word 'Soccer'. A lot of people think the word "Soccer" is an american word, or even that Soccer is an american sport...
Nothing about this. The word 'soccer' is originated in UK at the end of the nineteenth century to differenciate Rugby Football players from Association Football players. Yes, Association Football is the official name of the sport. Proof of this is that today some organizations still preserve the name Football Association on its name, such as FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). There is also an English Trophy called FA Cup :)
Therefore, the word "soccer" is an English word derived from the second syllable of the word "Association". Rugby Football became "rugby", and then "rugger". Association Football was better know as "assoccer" and naturally evolved into "soccer".
In the latter 19th and early 20th century, the game, and the word, was exported by British people all over the world.
In short, the word "soccer" is a British invention, but British people stopped using only about 30 years ago.
As you can see on the game, we love football and its origin. And the word Soccer is considered by us a way of paying tribute to football.
We support call it Football, but we can't forget that this sport has many ways to call him: football, soccer, footy or, simply, the beautiful game...

RULEBOOK English Edition
We already have the first version of the Soccer City's rulebook for the English Edition.
Given the fact that Soccer City was originally created in Spain based on Spanish football terminology, some tricks, move and dribble names may vary from its original in English.
Since this campaign is meant to both raise funds to release the English version, and increase awareness of its nature we would highly appreciate your suggestions and recommendations regarding the translation. Soccer City, as football itself, is a team work!
Given the fact that Soccer City was originally created in Spain based on Spanish football terminology, some tricks, move and dribble names may vary from its original in English.

Elegé Ibérica, que es la empresa que hemos creado para lanzar Soccer City, es una startup pequeñita, por lo que todas nuestras acciones nos suponen un gran esfuerzo económico y de tiempo a compaginar con nuestros respectivos trabajos. Vamos despacito pero con buena letra. Por otro lado, cualquier sugerencia será bienvenida.
